Hocus Focus

"Playing video games is life!," I whooped joyfully. Do you love playing video games as much as I do? Or have you ever liked something that brings so much joy in you? To love or like something is not wrong, but too much of it will harm us. As what my favorite author Andrew Clements said, "It is not good to have too much of anything." I wished I remembered Andrew Clement's quote when I went berserk with my new Wii console games.
A few days before Christmas, my parents bought me and my twin brother a Nintendo Wii console games. In a wink, I was hooked on playing it a lot with my brother. Hocus Focus! Like a magician, the video games hypnotizes my focus and controls me like a robot.  The excitement that the video games gave me, pushes me to hurriedly do things. It also diverted my focus on important things like school works and other responsibilities I have at our house.  And this eventually caused problems with my grades. When this happened, my parents had to take away my video game time for a month as part of the consequence of my actions.
A month later, my parents gave me back my video game time. But this time around, my parents and I agreed to lessen my game time and play it on Saturday, Sunday or on special occasions only. I also make sure that I'm done with all of my "tasks of the day" before my video game time or before doing things I liked to do.
In life, doing things we love is all right, but we need to know the boundaries, limitations and responsibilities it entails, for us not to suffer its consequences. Let us not be deceived with all the "Hocus Focus" in this world. “Focus is a matter of deciding what things you’re not going to do.” -John Carmack

Prayer
Lord,
Sometimes I lose my focus more on what I need to do and instead focus more on what I want to do. Help me to know which are things that are important that I should be doing first. Help me Lord to be more focused and not procrastinate for me to still do the things I love. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

"Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth."

Getting Up

Do you have an experience that you fell down on the floor or tripped? I had. Me, my brother, and my mom were going to fetch our dad...
