Meaning:                                                                                                                                                    The expression "white elephant" is a gift or object that is more pestering or troubling than it is good or reassuring. 


Example:

      That thing that Laura was given to by Hans is a white elephant. Do you know why, Elaine? Because it keeps ringing a annoying tune every hour!
