Proverbs to Ponder : Once Bitten, Twice Shy

Meaning:
      The proverb "Once bitten, twice shy" means that if something or someone has hurt you once, you will try not to let them hurt you again.

 Example:
      Poor James was once attacked by dog, once bitten, twice shy, now he is avoiding all dogs.
