Painting My Mood

Have you ever heard of the quote of Stockwell Day Jr.'s  "As all human beings are, in my view, creatures of God’s design, we must respect all other human beings. That does not mean I have to agree with their choices or agree with their opinions, but indeed I respect them as human beings."?  Have you ever felt disrespected? Or have you disrespected someone?
While I was in my art class, me and a friend of mine got into a little disagreement about using the slang expression "Heck!" was just ok. I made a big deal out of this flimsy disagreement and got enraged. And this made me unintentionally scared the youngest student in our class because of my anger. My growing frustration also affected the way I treated my teacher and the rest of the class. When I was about to go home, my teacher brought me to the fetching area. My teacher knowing I was not in the mood still tried talking to me and waved good bye, however I chose to ignore him. My mom saw everything in her own eyes. It made my mom really disappointed on my actions toward my teacher.
Upon reaching home, my mom had a long serious talk with me. She explained me to about the value of "Respect". Respect is how we treat everyone and not only just those whom we want to impress. Respect should be unconditional. No ifs or buts. It's not like "I will respect you if you will respect me" or "I will respect you but you must do this". Rather, it should be "I will respect you, period". She said she understands my hurting emotions, however it does not give me the right to also make them feel hurt like by being rude to them.
Lastly, to make amends with my actions, my mom gave me her phone. She asked me to send a message of asking forgiveness to my teacher as well as to my classmates. This time, I did not blow up my opportunity of asking forgiveness to those whom I may have offended.     I still feel emotional every time I remember this experience of mine. But, it reminds me that I am not perfect, I am still a work in progress. With God's help, and by His grace I will be able to overcome my emotions that leads in being disrespectful.

Prayer
Lord
Help me respect my parents, guardians, teachers, sibling/s, friends, those older than me, everybody and even my enemies. Help me not to be a disrespectful kid and give me the right words and actions to respect the people I meet. If I had disrespected someone, give me the courage to say sorry to that person and help me to not do it again. Thank you Lord for always listening to me, in Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

Friend or Foe?

In this world, would you know who is bad, and who is good? It will also be hard to tag if a person is good or bad based on their actions, words or sometimes with their looks right?
I once experienced being called names by a bully at our school. This boy if you look at him from the outside, he would seem a nice boy. However, it's the other way around. He would tease me around during our classes, and he would always make me feel helpless and just cry by myself. All those teasing days, I would just rely on myself in solving my problem. And that was wrong! Finally, I had the courage to tell my mom what was happening. After all, our parents should be the first person we should be telling our problems.  My mom had to talk to my teacher about what happened. She had to explain to me also how to handle and pray for situations like that.
Do you have in your school or neighborhood a bully, pray for them that they will no longer bully you. You should also be patient with them even though they're annoying, if you fight back, they will just bully you more or worse you become a bully yourself.
Remember the verse in Matthew 5: 44 that you need to love your enemies. Well that verse is very correct, even though somebody might hurt you, you need to love them because maybe the kid might have had sorrow in his life. So even though you might think of somebody you don't like as an enemy, you still need to love the person.

Prayer
Lord,
Help me pray for those who hurt me. Let me Lord love the person Lord and treat him or her kindly. Don't let me judge people of their actions but try to love the person even if they don't love me back. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."

Youtube Mania

"But Auntie Anna, we want to still watch YouTube!" I pleaded glumly in my mind. Typically, it’s easy for my brother and I to listen and to obey our mom and dad, but what will happen if it’s not our parents who are asking us to do something?
In one occasion, when we were at my grandpa's place with my other cousins, we were spending our time by playing our gadgets and watching YouTube. However, Auntie Anna noticed that we’ve been too consumed for many hours already with watching YouTube. What happened next was not what I was expecting. Auntie Anna, told us to stop watching YouTube. She advised us to do something else like playing outside our grandpa’s house, or catching up with our other relatives instead of just using the gadget the whole day. Since our mom and dad were not there that time, I felt sad but later on I realize our Auntie Anna was just being protective to us like our mom. She just wants us to enjoy the moment we have in our grandpa’s house. My brother and I apologized for the way we acted and heed her advice to play outside and mingle with others.
This experience of mine made me understand that my obedience should not be selective. Selective obedience means you are choosing to obey only those whom you like to obey. At that moment, my Auntie Anna acted like a parent to me and my brother because she just wanted us to keep out of trouble and experience the real fun. If she did not correct us, my brother and I would not be able to enjoy exploring grandpa’s place, playing outdoor games or worse thing that could happen is we might have eye aches that day. I thank God for blessing me with people like Auntie Anna who is bold enough to correct me when I needed to be corrected!

Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders.

Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another,

for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Phonetastically OK!

"I'm okay with the phone mom" I answered willingly. Have you ever wanted a phone of your own? Did you ever ask your parents if they could buy you a phone? I still remember the time when my brother and I got our first phone. We had it when we were 10 years old. And we asked it for a reason.
During Sundays, our family would go to church. Mom and dad would attend the adult service while my brother and I would attend the kid’s church service. However, there are times that our service would finish earlier than our parent’s one. As much as we wanted to tell them we’re done, we cannot do so because we don’t have a phone.
One time, I asked my mom and dad if we can have a phone of ours already. I explained to them that having a phone gives us a way to update them of our whereabouts especially when we are done with our Victory group session or during times when we are attending our boot camps. Having given them a valid reason, they agreed to give me a hand phone. When they hand over the phone to us, it was not actually a new one but rather an old phone that my dad had used before! It had no touch screen, its pixelated, the keypads were a bit hard to type in, actually there’s not much you can do with it except of course call our parents or send message to them.  In short, it was not a fancy phone! We gladly accept the phone they are giving us, after all we just want them to give us a means for us to communicate with them when we need to.
The experience of having our first phone taught me to be happy with what was given to me or what I had. I know that even though the phone was not at all the modern phones that we have today, it serves its purpose. It is not important how the phone looks like, but its purpose is far more valuable. That purpose is for us to connect with my mom and dad. It’s also the same with all the things that we have right now; we should be happy and thankful to God. All of God’s blessings to us have its purpose that we need to put importance on. If there comes a time again that you would ask for something like a phone or something else and get like an old phone from your parents, be thankful that you have something than having nothing! I remember mom asking me if our phone was ok, I enthusiastically replied “It is Phonetastically OK!”

Forever by Kari Jobe

FOREVER
by Kari Jobe

Have you read the story of Jesus' sacrifice to the cross? The song Forever takes you to that sad yet victorious moment for all of us humans. The song describe how God was so loving and merciful to us that He willingly sacrificed his only son, Jesus Christ to the cross for us to be save even though we didn't deserve it. Through Jesus' sacrifice and God's love for us, we are saved and will not reap the consequences of our sins if we believe and accept Him as our Lord and Savior.

I do hope you will like the piano cover of Forever I played!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

FOREVER
by Kari Jobe

The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse upon him

One final breath He gave
As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken
The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated
Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive
The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated
Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive
Forever, forever
You have overcome
Your resurrected King
You have overcome the grave
You have overcome
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
We sing Hallelujah
The Lamb has overcome
Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive (Forever)
Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive

Reader's Corner: A Tale of a Man Haunted by Three Creepy Ghosts

Do you celebrate Christmas holiday? A lot of people do! Christmas is one of the most celebrated occasion around the world. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is a Christmas themed story that tells a story about an old and grumpy man named Ebenezer Scrooge who hates Christmas. He doesn’t want anyone to be jolly and keeps himself solitary. But then three ghosts visit him and then they take him into an unexpected adventure to show him the true meaning of Christmas.
This is really a magnificent story! The book shows us a story of what love is and significance of Christmas. The author did a great job in trying to narrate the story in a realistic way. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has become a timeless novel that people of all ages read. It also inserts some supernatural scenario in it like those three ghosts of Past, Present, and Future. What will be the role of these supernatural beings in the story? Will they be the hero or villain in Ebenezer Scrooge’s life?
The book is filled with immense adventure, heartwarming scenes, and some suspense in it. I highly recommend this book for ages 9 to 12 years old because of its thrill and suspense that will bring them. Advance Merry CHRISTmas to all!!!

Lazy Eye No More!

When I was young, I was diagnosed with “Amblyopia”. “Amblyopia” or “Lazy eye” in layman’s term is a vision development disorder in which an eye fails to achieve normal visual sharpness, even with prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses. The eyes would look like they are looking into two opposite directions. My parents would always bring me to my Pedia-Opthalmogist for check-ups every three months.
During one of our visits to the doctor, as I wait on my seat, I overheard my mom and the ophthalmologist talking about my condition. The doctor says that if my eye didn't improve over the course of 6 months, I might need to undergo corrective eye surgery. The doctor advised my mom to put an eye patch. The eye patch would exercise my eyes and strengthen the eye nerves. It has to be done for 6 months. Having heard this, I got so scared and wouldn’t want to have a surgery!
Once my mom and I got home, we told the doctor’s findings to my dad and brother. My dad said that if surgery would help me with my eye problem, then it should be ok. At least, my eye would be corrected and at the same time I get to face my fear. I know that my dad was just trying to comfort me, but I was still anxious of the thought of me having surgery. Every day I would pray to God to not let me have eye surgery and heal me.
Together with my constant prayer, I also did my part. I would do my eye-patch exercise as advised by the doctor. The doctor said I need 2-3 hours of eye-patching for both eyes however I did more on what she asked me. I would do it for 6 hours or more every day!
After 6 months, we came back to the doctor. I did my usual eye tests with my doctor. Guess what’s the doctor’s finding? The doctor said my eye has improved a lot that I don’t need surgery anymore! My doctor was amazed with the progress of my eye problem. She says for some of her patient it usually takes 6-9 months or even years to correct lazy eye condition. For some, eye surgery was the solution.
In this scary experience, I learned that we might ask God to help us with any situations that trouble us. But we can't just leave those situations to God and be lazy in doing our part. In my case, I prayed for healing, God sent me His answer through my doctor. However, it doesn’t end there, I need to follow what the doctor advised. Am I healed? Yes I am totally healed by my Heavenly Father!

Prayer
Lord
Thank you Lord for healing my eye. Let me not forget to do my part every time I pray for something. I know You will always help me and will never let anything bad happen to me. Thank you for being a loving and merciful Father to me, in Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

Who Am I? by Casting Crowns

WHO AM I?
by Casting Crown

In the song "Who Am I" that I played in the piano, I learned that we are not perfect. None of us actually are perfect, but God is still chooses us to become His children.  Like our parents, He watches over us, protects us from harm, provides for us and doesn't want to see us suffer. We all make mistakes, but God, being our loving and merciful Father, always choose to love and forgive us despite our shortcomings. He even wants us to be with him that’s why He sent Jesus for us to be saved.

I hope you will like my piano version of "Who Am I"!

"Who Am I"
by Casting Crowns

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart?

Not because of who I am,
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who You are.

I am a flower quickly fading:
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling.
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling.
And You've told me who I am.
I am Yours, I am Yours.

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again?
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me?

Not because of who I am,
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who You are.

I am a flower quickly fading:
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling.
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling.
And You've told me who I am.
I am Yours.

Not because of who I am,
But because of what You've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who You are.

I am a flower quickly fading:
Here today and gone tomorrow.
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still You hear me when I'm calling.
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling.
And told me who I am.
I am Yours, I am Yours, I am Yours.

Whom shall I fear?
Whom shall I fear?
'Cause I am Yours, I am Yours.

Reader's Corner: A Story of a Girl with an Unbelievable Strength of a Man

Are you fond of reading stories that has hilarious adventures in it? Have you read a story where the character exhibits an extraordinary strength? Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Longstocking will certainly fit your craving! The story is about a strange, little girl with an unbelievable strength of a man. Despite her weird personality, she manages to make friends with Tommy and Annika, her neighbours.  Her unusual behaviour brings her, together with her friends, into many exciting, but hilarious trouble!
My favorite part of the story was when Pippi and her friends climbed up a tree. I find this part amusing. I was amazed on how Pippi and her friends were able to squeeze themselves inside the tree. There are a lot of morals that can also be learned from the story. Morals like giving respect to adults, having self-control, good manners and lastly it will teach the importance of learning.
I highly recommend this book to kids ages 8 to 10 years old. It also caters readers who enjoy reading selections that has a mix of both adventure and humour.  The story will boost the kid’s imagination and makes the kid eager to read more. These classic children novel will be worth reading for…

Getting Up

Do you have an experience that you fell down on the floor or tripped? I had. Me, my brother, and my mom were going to fetch our dad...
